Larissa & Nick’s Wedding at the Harold Boas Gardens, Perth

After being a bridesmaid seven times (which must be some kind of record!), Larissa got to tie the knot herself with her marriage to Nick in the lovely Harold Boas Gardens. She knew the importance of keeping the reception close to the ceremony, and so they chose to celebrate with family and friends at the Old Brewery on the Swan River.

It was a hot, hot day—37 degrees, but we managed just fine. For the wedding the couple wanted something relaxed and not too formal. For the style they went with earthy colours with a modern vintage feel, with Larissa avoiding being too prescriptive with the bridesmaids dresses so they choose whichever top style they wanted.

For herself, Larissa never really wanted a white or strapless dress and she says that Kate Colgan is a wonderfully talented dressmaker who “interprets ideas with genius”.

For DIY elements, Larissa made the DIY seating chart using an op shop picture frame with velvet lining. For wedding favours for the women, she put ribbons with a thank you tag on wooden hand fans, whilst the centrepieces where upcycled glass bowls planted with succulents and placed on crochet doilies.
