Janine & Mitchell’s traditional wedding at Pagoda Spa & Resort

It’s always nice to see a bride enjoying themselves—and we mean, really enjoying themselves—on this most stressful of days. Janine certainly did—she calls it the best day ever! Mitchell and her have known each other since they we were kids and went to Primary and High School together. He was also her neighbour, and his cubby-house even overlooked her backyard. She says that she spent her entire childhood jealous of that cubby!

In July 2015, they went on a holiday to Europe, visiting Janine’s family in Portugal. It was her first time visiting Madeira and she says that it holds a very special place in my heart.  Even more so now because Mitchell and her went on an amazing Levada walk to the 25 Fontes which is where he proposed to her.

For their wedding style they went with something traditional, choosing to tie the knot in the beautiful St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth. The rain cleared up as soon as the ceremony started letting amazing sunshine into the cathedral.  The day stayed beautiful until the reception when a storm hit with the full works: thunder, rain and lightning!

Not that it mattered, the couple still managed to have a blast, and get some great photos on the overpass to the jetty whilst being honked by the cars passing below on the freeway. Janine said the best part was when they even got a toot from the train!

A lot of brides will tell you that the day goes by so fast so to really take it in.  This is true!  But it can really help if you tell yourself things throughout the day so you really do feel and stay in the moment.  When you’re getting your hair done, take a breath and tell yourself “I’m getting my hair done now”.   Do this with everything throughout the day and it will help you savour each moment.  Also, relax and just have fun!  This is THE big day!  Things will go wrong, you need to brush it aside – smile and laugh as much as you possibly can.  If at the end of the day you’re married to the one you love, nothing else matters and it will be the most perfect day no matter what.
