Vintage tones at Emma & Shannon’s Wedding at Forest Hill Vineyard

After first meeting 10 years ago, Emma & Shannon celebrated their marriage this spring with a wedding on the Forest Hill Winery in Denmark. The Forest Hill Winery is an architecturally stunning setting on top of a hill, surrounded by vineyards and with expansive views out across the Southern Ocean.

The natural lighting is fantastic, and we didn’t need to go far for photography, although I should note for other brides that the vineyard is very close to Green Pool and Elephant Rocks, which are popular locations for bridal photography sessions.

Emma says that after seeing the vineyard for the first time, he knew that one day she was going to get married there no matter what. Her and Shannon loved how picturesque the setting was with it’s breathtaking views  and also how they could do everything on one place. She says

“Silas and Angela (from Forest Hill) were the most amazing people to work with to get our special day perfect. They were just so professional and easy to talk to and the food from the Pepper and Salt restaurant was delicious and top quality.”

Emma and the girls made their preparations in one of the chalets at Celestine Retreat. The style she was looking for was vintage, rustic and elegant with soft tones—tea rose for the girl’s dresses and a medium grey for the men’s suits that was tied in with soft ivory.

She says that getting her gown, from Brides by Design, was a lot of fun and she enjoyed all the fittings and alterations and seeing it all come together at the end and how amazing it made her feel.

For the bouquets (which Emma really loved), a large Protea feature flower was contrasted with soft rose and ivory tones with plenty of greenery. The same arrangement was used on the arbor, made by a close family friend, and the reception table centrepieces tying everything together nicely.

The grandfather of the bride made the wishing well, and her father made the wooden cake and cupcake stand. The huge LOVE letters where hired for the occasion. For the wedding favours large chocolate freckles and jelly bean bags where given since both Emma and Shannon have a sweet tooth.

Emma says her favourite moment was trying to get the perfect photo at night under the famous Forest Hill tree, which we managed to do in the end.

Bride's Review

Kirsten did such a beautiful job on our wedding photography, she captured the day so magically and told our story perfectly. Kirsten is so incredible to work with, especially working with such a large bridal party, she was very professional and went beyond our expectations. Thank you so much for everything and creating beautiful photos and memories, we love them all.
