UWA makes for a stunning backdrop at Kristy & Kyle’s Matilda Bay wedding

Kristy & Kyle wanted a riverside ceremony with views of the city skyline, and they came all the way down to Perth from Karratha to get it! They certainly chose one of the most picturesque locations along the Swan River—the Matilda Bay Foreshore. After a beautiful ceremony on the river banks, and a photography session on the UWA grounds, the wedding finished with a stylish reception at the Matilda Bay Restaurant.

Photographer Trish Woodford says that all the weddings she shoots are special to her (of course!), but this one in particular was just a little bit more special since she has known Kristy and her family for more than 20 years.

The big day began with Kristy and her bridesmaids preparing at the home of her parents in Success, whilst Kyle & his groomsmen started suiting up at the Fraser Suites in the city. The couple’s style choice was pastel colours with the girls in peach and the boys with matching ties.

Kristy wore a dropwaist, strapless gown from Raffinato Bridal that just looks so elegant and stunning.

The floral bouquet was put together by Chia Anne and included little framed photographs that Trish says was a beautiful and meaningful way of keeping close those who you love, but who are no longer with you.

Kristy & Kyle exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony officiated by the very lovely Candice Bydder

After tying the knot in front of friends and family on the foreshore, there was plenty of time for photographs on the UWA grounds. Trish loves the archways, and so do we. Those limestone colonnades, huge shade trees and beautifully landscaped grounds are just the most elegant backdrop for a wedding.

The party also managed to fit in five minutes at the famous Crawley Blue Boatshed, “nudging a few tourists”, to get the perfect shot! Then it was time for the reception at the Matilda Bay Restaurant, styled by Ceremony Secrets.

The cake was made by a friend of the groom, the name plates for the guests’ seating was created by the bride, and for the wedding favours the couple went with something simple—customised stubby holders which they designed online.

Kristy says the catering was amazing:

Everyone at our wedding commented on how great the food at the Matilda Bay Restaurant was. Their service was also excellent!
