Unbridled talent and rustic charm at Quarry Farm

Even if you don’t know the bride or groom, many of us still revel in a little social media stalking of wedding pictures. I know I do, but to make myself feel a little bit better, I tell myself it’s “inspiration”. So what if I’m already married!

While the odd horror show might turn up in your newsfeed, most couples seem to have pulled together their big day pretty well as the directors of their own production.

But… what if there was no client? What if a group of leading wedding suppliers through caution to the wind and unleashed their talents with reckless abandon?

What started as a light bulb moment for Halls Head makeup artist Bianca Williams, of Williams and Co Artistry, became reality within a few short (albeit busy) weeks.

“I saw the large, well established businesses investing in these elaborate photo shoots and felt like smaller businesses had a lot to offer too, but didn’t always get a look in,” she said. “So, I put my feelers out there to see if any other local vendors would be interested in joining forces and had an overwhelming response. It just grew and grew from there!”

For many of the styled shoot participants, venue Quarry Farm delivered a sucker punch of nostalgia. Formerly known as Tumbulgum Farm, the buildings once hosted school excursions or motocross enthusiasts on a day trip from the city.

Oh, how times have changed. While the rustic charm and quaint countryside feel is still there, Quarry Farm has undergone extensive renovations to create truly versatile spaces.

“Our focus with the renovations has been to provide a venue that delivers a unique experience and treasured memories,” manager Susanne Alexander said. “The new Waterview Terrace has stunning 180 degree views – it’s been well worth the investment.”

Working from Quarry Farm’s newly-renovated bridal suite, Hair For All Occasions collaborated closely with makeup artists Bianca Williams and Ash Crowe to craft separate looks for six models and celebrant Candice Barnes.

The styled wedding shoot followed two different themes. The first was Vintage, complete with lace and impressive floral arrangements by Sally Meadows of Decor8.

Set under a gazebo, overlooking an expanse of still water, Avant Garde Event Styling enhanced the elegance of the space with a hand-made floral topper for its purpose-built wooden arch. Handwritten signage by Chalk of the Town Signwriting added a personal touch, while delicate ruffles adorned a picture-perfect edible masterpiece by Bridal Select Cakes.

For the second look, a simple, lush paddock was transformed into a boho dream under the vision of the team at Little Miss Vintage. Wooden pews perched next to an aisle of colourful rugs, with statement blooms by Flowers By Pep adding the final flourish.

The dashing gents in the hypothetical bridal party were captured in looks by Ferrari Formalwear, while Shae White of Blue Cherry Bridal hand-picked a variety of gowns in shades of white, grey and blush.
