Plenty of Australiana at Destelle & Shane’s Classy Wedding in the Swan Valley

After first meeting this gorgeous couple for a windy Fremantle engagement shoot, I got the chance to become the photographer at their wedding at the Riverside Cafe in the Swan Valley. Destelle was looking for a big party, and that’s what she got—a relaxing day filled with family, friends, music and of course: love!

The bride was looking for Australiana-style wedding with plenty of soft lights, hanging candles and platoon lighting and sunset pastel colours:

“We just wanted to get married by the river, underneath the gorgeous gum tree at sunset. Our seating was very casual and included palette couches and an eclectic mix of furniture for guests as hired from the venue.”

The bride’s gorgeous dress was made by her grandmother.

Bouquet and decorative flowers created by Amy from Lush Creations in Kalamunda. Destelle says that “Amy was so flexible and reasonably priced” and she has recommended her to anyone who asks.

The couple really loved their venue, the Riverside Cafe, and it was a BYO venue so they had the freedom to serve their guests what they wanted without the price tag.

“We chose to have canapes and avoid the sit-down wedding and the dreaded seating plan. The food was amazing with an awesome cheese buffet served to guests while we were off having photos. The substantial canapes and fish and chips at 10pm were a lifesaver.”

For favours they used personalised DIY bags from Etsy and other great styling pieces from WedStyle on Lord Street, Perth. Guests were asked to fill up their favour bags from the dessert buffet.
