Michelle & Craig’s beach wedding at Bunker Bay

Well how’s this for a cute story—Michelle and Craig were neighbours as children until Craig’s family moved away when he was 15, and she was 10. Twenty years later they met once again, hit it off and found themselves engaged within 6 months! The couple got married in December 2016, and they decided on something relaxed, beachy and fun.

They chose one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches in Geographe Bay—Bunker Bay Beach, near the very top of Cape Naturaliste. Michelle says the view from their reception at Bunker’s Beach House towards the beach was absolutely magical.

The couple went with a rustic feeling, a palette of blue and pale pink, with plenty of native flowers, lots of candles and simple styling. What I loved was how they chose native flowers from the South West itself.

The bridal gown was from Grace Loves Lace.

Signs where created by Ness Hodge from Ink and Dust Designs, a Dunsborough-based signwriter. Michelle says that “she makes incredible chalk boards and was so helpful and easy going when I needed to make changes.”

The ceremony was conducted by Carla Paterson.

For DIY, they used candles as table decorations along with wooden letters, flowers and vases. They also made a place for people to leave their shoes as the ceremony was ‘shoe free’ event on the beach. They also left paint brushes for people to dust of the sand which was a nice idea.

Michelle says:

My favourite moment was sitting down for dinner and taking a moment to watch everyone and look around and really just soak it all up and be in the moment. The day goes so fast but I loved sitting with my new husband, watching everyone enjoying themselves over good food and wine!

To other brides, Michelle suggests going on the honeymoon straight away, or at least within a day or two of the wedding:

It was the absolute best to get away straight after and be together and be married! We were going to go away a few months later on a bigger trip but we are both so happy we did a holiday straight after. Even if it’s a short trip, it was so good being away just us, unwinding as it is a very busy few days (no matter how relaxed you are about it) and reminiscing about our wedding day.

Bride's Review

Ange was so lovely! She made us both feel relaxed and calm and from the moment we met Ange we knew she was the right photographer for us. Ange is very genuine and professional. The photos she took we absolutely love and Ange went above and beyond with her effort and time to make our day and photos perfect! I have and will recommend her in a heart beat.
