Lisa & Joshua’s spectacular beach ceremony at the Aqua Resort in Busselton

Who doesn’t love a ceremony on the sand? Lisa & Josh tied the knot in the April of this year at the Aqua Resort in Busselton. Since they had so many interstate and overseas guests coming for the occasion they wanted to show everyone the best of the Margaret River, and so they turned their wedding day into a wedding week with a welcome party, wine tour, ceremony and after party.

The two of them actually met in Bali, and that’s where they initially planned to get married. Unfortunately they ended up getting scammed out of thousands of dollars by a local wedding venue. After that they decided to get married down south (and make the most of it!).

They found Aqua Resort in Busselton, and it was the perfect location for them since they wanted a beach ceremony. They said that the Aqua staff were very helpful and easy to work with and venue was worth every cent.

They chose three houses in a row: one for the Bridal party, one for my family and one for Josh’s. Each house slept 14, so they had a good number of our guests staying there. In front of the houses, they had their marquee set up, so everything was very close and easy to access.

Lisa’s dress was made by the designer White April which she purchased from Oxford Bridal. She says it was a brave neckline for her, but with the sheer mesh that held it together and the detailed lace work, she felt completely comfortable on the day.

Lisa and her bridesmaids wore barefoot sandals instead of shoes. They were meant to change into shoes at the reception, but the girls kept them on all night!

Josh’s Grandad (with the help of Louise Hyland, the marriage celebrant) married them. He has married all of Josh’s family and due to his age, this was the last wedding for him to perform. It was something pretty special for the couple and their family.

My florist was amazing! I showed her a few photos and she knew exactly what we wanted. We went with a rustic, yet simple and elegant look.

Jody from Bling Event Studio went above and beyond on our wedding day and the days leading up to our wedding. She added loads of extras and set the marquee up exactly how I imagined. She did everything without needing to speak to me once on the day like she was reading my mind.

The wedding cake was very simple, yet elegant. The couple chose a white chocolate vanilla cake, with a gold foil finish, white chocolate drizzle and handmade sugar flower.

Food By The Chef produced some of the best food I have ever eaten. Everyone was so impressed and The Chef came out to introduce himself to guest and asked a few of the bigger guys if they would like more food. It was a nice touch. They also provided some entertainment with dry ice on their desserts! Very cool.

Our first dance was so special… and then Mum and Dad interrupted the dance and Dad took me and mum took Josh. We then simultaneously cranked out into swing dance, as if it was planned. There were lots of laughs and it’s something I will always remember.
